The wise men from the east who came to Jesus soon after His birth brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. "Gold" meant love to the Lord, "frankincense" love towards the neighbor, and "myrrh" those loves as they exist within the natural (that is, in outward life). All worship proceeds from these three.
